Windows 10: Windows 10 - No USB devices recognized

Hi all


Yesterday when booting up my pc at start of day, everything on the screen looked as normal but then I noticed the mouse & keyboard weren't working. During the boot up sequence the mouse showed the red light underneath but this soon went out. The keyboard light was on but appeared "frozen" as hitting "caps lock" or "numbers lock" didn't turn the light of/on.


I saw a brief message saying " the last USB you connected has malfunctioned & windows does not recognize it" but I hadn't recently connected anything new. I'd just shut down as normal the previous night with everything connected & working & restarted next day.


I've tried re-booting, I've moved the mouse & keyboard into every 6 other spare USB ports & re-booted but its the same issue. I've tried different mice wired & wireless. Screen starts & displays everything ok, mouse & keyboard initially look as if they about to work lights on - I assume this shows they are getting power? but then they close down so I cant do anything.


When turned on the computer displays eveything ok, time continues to tick etc so it doesn't appear the pc itself is frozen, just the keyboard & mouse due to USB issue.

I'm not overly tech savvy so at a real loss.. can I reboot it into a mode to restore it to a previous time..Would that even be likely to work?

But how can I even do anything to troubleshoot / fix if I cant use a mouse or keyboard !?

Some USB Devices not recognized in Windows 10

Hi have Windows 10 Pro insider preview 10532 64bit Pro Intel i7 desktop PC.

I have multiple USB devices connected, USB 3 & 2. The USB HDD is working however my Samsung phone and kindle are no longer being recognized. The steps followed so far:

• Uninstalled all USB devices in device manager including controllers
• Flashed BIOS to latest version
• Updated USB drivers for the devices from manufacturers sites
• Tried new USB cables

Please note: both devices are recognized by my Windows 10 Lenovo laptop.

I really don't want to fresh install, please suggest any diagnostics I can try.

USB device not recognized spam

You may receive this error if one of your USB connected devices is not properly recognized by the system. Let's try the troubleshooting steps provided by
Krishna Prasobh V on this
thread.

In addition, we suggest that you turn off the notifications from the USB by following these steps:

• Open Settings by typing "settings" in Cortana's search box.
• Click on Devices.
• Locate USB and toggle the switch to Off.

USB sound/midi device not recognized

I have a Technics PR804 keyboard attached to my Windows 10 laptop through USB. I've installed the drivers that came with my keyboard by entering compatibility mode to Windows ME, but the device manager won't recognize the hardware when it's turned on and
plugged into my laptop. I've seen instructions online indicating that device manager should identify the keyboard as a sound device, and that I should be able to choose folder location for correct driver, but can't complete this step as device manager does
not list the keyboard as an available device.

Any suggestions?
