    Windows 10 not activating, why and how do I fix it?


    I had purchased retail version of windows 10 pro x64 in 2017, The license key works in my previous PC even right now but in my new PC it's not working. I am trying to transfer my license so I used PowerShell to uninstall the key and now I am trying to install the key in my new PC. It says it has installed key successfully but it's not showing "windows activated". It's simply not activating. For context, I am using MSI x570-A pro motherboard in my new PC. I don't know if it has compatibility issues. Secondly, I was unable to install the windows I got from the retail version so I had to use a media creation tool to download new windows 10 pro x64 but it was version 1903 while the one I got in retail version is some very old windows build version, even before the updates.

    Windows 10 Activation (Insider)

    How long did you wait for activation?
    When I re-installed with a fresh install... it took a few hours to sync and activate.
    However, it did, finally, activate.

    Hi!

    I signed up in the windows insider program and got windows 10 free - the windows 10 insider preview updated to windows 10 pro.
    Today i got another SSD and did a raid 0 on my system forcing me to do a clean install of windows but now it wont activate anymore.
    Signing in with my microsoft account that was linked to the insider program didnt help.
    Maybe i got this problem since i quit the insider program for several days and signed up again after i found out that my win 10 wont activate anymore.
    Any ideas how to fix it?

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK
