Windows 10: Windows 10 Not Identifying any Headphones as Audio Input Devices (All 3.5MM Jack)

Hello,
I'm trying to use the microphone on my headset but Windows 10 does not recognize any 3.5MM jack-based devices as audio inputs. I have tried with 3 different devices which I have successfully used for this purpose on this computer before (two of which I have used in the past day). I have restarted my computer, reinstalled realtek audio drivers, tried the windows native troubleshooting service, and double checked that the devices aren't having issues on other devices. Still, despite being able to hear audio without any issue, none of my headphones or heatsets are being recognized as microphones or audio input devices.

Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this issue? I desperately need it fixed to be able to use Zoom and Skype.

Windows 10 Headphones not auto-selected when inserted to audio jack

Hi, I have an Acer Swift 5 laptop running latest Windows Version 10 64-bit.

Is there a way in setting to select the headphones as the output device automatically when the headphones are connected to the Audio jack?

When the headphones are connected to the audio jack, a notification pops out in bottom right corner prompting:
"Which device did you plug in?", with the Headphone highlighted. I have to then click "OK" to select it.

Is there a setting to make this automatic?

In Sound settings, under "Output device", I only see "Readltek(R) Audio" listed, even the headphones are connected.

problem might be if you are using an external monitor connected via HDMI with HDMI audio.
