Windows 10: Windows 10 Not Working

I have an HP PC bought refurbished 8 months ago with OEM Windows 10 onboard. It’s worked well until today when it’s had a meltdown for a reason I can’t identify. On starting it now says “Preparing Windows” and then “We can’t sign in to your account. The problem can often be fixed by signing out of your account and then signing back in. If you don’t sign out now any files you create or changes you make will be lost.” I don’t have a Microsoft account open when I get this message. Selecting “Sign out” simply takes me back to “Preparing Windows”. Selecting “Close” allows me to use some f

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK
