Windows 10: Windows 10 on a new hardware

Hello, I am about to buy new hardware everything except my HDD, SSD and PS.


I have a windows 10 PRO which was upgraded from windows 7. However, I don't have my product key any more - my windows was activated using 1 e-mail my former business e-mail, the one that no longer exists, and the microsoft account is being used by another e-mail - my private e-mail.


I am signed in to my microsoft account and it seems ALL OK from the "Activation" panel - e-mail correct, signed in, I am administrator, product activated. I can even see my Product ID. My account is also connected to my phone number and that "2-factor" works well e.g. I can reset my password.


Also, I have prepared the Windows 10 on my USB flash drive using the MediaCreationTool1909.exe

My questions are:

1. What do I have to do to be able to have activated windows 10 on a new hardware? Do I need anything or simple sign in?

2. Can I retain my Product key using only my current PC and microsoft account?

3. Is it possible to keep the data form the HDD when installing new Windows on my SSD, according to the above?

Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Installing Windows 10 on New PC?

I'm going to be building a new PC on Christmas and want to install Windows 10 on it. I have Windows 10 on my current PC, which I installed upgrading from 8.1 with the files on a USB. How do I go about installing a clean copy of Windows 10 on this new PC? I think I recall something about installing it once makes Microsoft recognize your hardware, but since this will be a PC I'm not sure what steps I need to take. Do I need to go 8.1 -> 10 or is there a method of going directly to 10?
