Windows 10 opens to "home screen" then jumps to flash drive

I have tried to find an answer to this problem with no apparent success. My Windows 10 version 1909 opens to my "home screen," then jumps to my flash drive USB Drive F:. Have I accidently provided a command for this to occur? If I did, I can't recall doing it. Is it possible that a software update may have caused this very irritating problem? Could it be a problem with the CPU? I'm trying to cover all of the bases, but I am far from a professional technician. If anyone can help, I will be deeply ingratiated.

    :)

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK

  3. Unable to open the files on my flash drive on windows 10.

    Hi Kiezan,

Thank you for your interest in Windows 10.

We understand your concern on flash drive dysfunctional on Windows 10 and I'd be glad to help you.

Before assisting further, I would like to ask you few questions regarding the query:

    • Do you get any error message, when you try to open the files in flash drive?

    • Can you access other USB devices connected to the computer?
I suggest you to check, whether USB flash drive is shown in the file explorer and try to open the files from there.

This issue could occur due to outdated, corrupted or incorrect settings of Universal Serial Bus controllers on Windows 10.

If you are unable to find the drive in File Explorer, please refer to the suggestions of ThofikhAhamad, replied on September 5, 2015, to fix your issue with flash drive.

USB jump drive won't work in windows 10 professional; says disk is write protected; jump drive was formatted exFAT prior

    Hello Martha,

Thank you for posting on Microsoft Community. We regret the inconvenience caused and will assist you in resolving the issue.

Before assisting further, I would like to ask you few questions:

    • Did you check if similar issue persists on connecting other jump drives on the computer?
    • Did you make any other changes apart from formatting the jump drive to
      exFat
      format prior to the issue?

You might be facing the above issue due to the Read only option selected on the jump drive connected to the PC.

I suggest you to check if similar issue persists on connecting other USB drives on the PC. If the issue does not persist, I suggest you to follow the steps below and check if the issue is resolved.

    • Connect the jump drive to the computer and open File explorer by pressing
Windows logo + X keys on the keyboard.
    • Click on This PC from the left side panel of the window and right click on the jump drive shown under
      Disks & Drives.
    • Select Properties from the context menu and uncheck
      Read only
      if marked.
    • Click on Yes when the option saying Apply changes to subfolders and files writing to this folder pops.
    • Click on Apply and OK on the same window.
    • Close the window, check if the changes are effective by unplugging and re-plugging the jump drive on the computer.

If the issue persists, is suggest you to contact the jump drive manufacturer’s support for further assistance.

Write to us with answers to the above questions and the status of the issue on the same post for further assistance. Your reply is most important for us to ensure we assist you accordingly.

    Thank you.
