Windows 10: Windows 10 or Office 2019?

Hoping someone can help as PC World are truly stumped and have given up.


I have purchased 2 Lenovos and 1 Acer in the last month and each time at set up there has been an issue with wallpaper not loading (standard set up, nothing personal or imported). The screen seems to just display a blue background with dots but you can see some of the background wallpaper picture around the edges. Its not a huge issue but when you have purchased 3 new laptops you would expect them to work properly when you turn them on - I only swapped back to Acer as I thought it was a Lenovo issue!


The only software I have loaded has been Office 2019 on top of the standard Windows 10 that the laptop comes with.


On one or two of them I have started to use G Suite Sync for Outlook (obv a Google product) but the wallpaper issue has arisen in at least one of the laptops prior to this.


Any ideas?

Only supported on Win10. Sorry, 8.1 users, only 4 years old, gotta go.

Last year at Ignite, we announced Office 2019 – the next perpetual version of Office that includes apps (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, and Skype for Business) and servers (including Exchange, SharePoint, and Skype for Business). Today we’re pleased to share the following updates:

• Office 2019 will ship in H2 of 2018. Previews of the new apps and servers will start shipping in the second quarter of 2018.
• Office 2019 apps will be supported on:
  • Any supported Windows 10 SAC release
  • Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2018
  • The next LTSC release of Windows Server
• The Office 2019 client apps will be released with Click-to-Run installation technology only. We will not provide MSI as a deployment methodology for Office 2019 clients. We will continue to provide MSI for Office Server products.

Office 2016 is supported on all current O/S's until 2025. So, 7 years is plenty of time to phase out all of their previous O/S's. I doubt there would ever be much need to run Office 2019 on a non-Windows 10 computer.

How is this news or surprising to anyone?

Especially when there are viable and arguably better open-source alternatives out there.. For those of us who don't use Microsoft Office, this isn't a problem.
