Windows 10: Windows 10 Password expires & windows 10 is linked to my microsoft account, what will...

I'm running windows 10 pro on a desktop. Windows is linked to my Microsoft account online so my computer password is the same as my Microsoft account password. My local domain (corporate policy) requires that I set my windows password to expire every 90 days. That is about to happen and I'm going to be forced to set a new windows password. When I change my windows password what will happen to the link to my Microsoft account?


1. will it also reset my Microsoft account password online (that's ideal)? OR

2. will is only change my local password and break the link with my Microsoft account and thus I can no longer use my Microsoft account to get into my computer if I get locked out? OR

3. Something else?


This is particularly important because I have other Microsoft devices (surface Pro 6) which is ALSO linked to my microsoft account and so any changes would then affect that device too.

Windows 10 Tweaks

As you may already know, Windows 10 (as well as Windows 8) allow you to log in with a valid Microsoft account, instead of creating a local account that only works on your machine. However, you may prefer to keep a local account for privacy reasons. If you do, though, some Windows 10 features—like Cortana—may not work. Despite the default behavior, the Windows 10 Store is not one of them. You can still log in to your Microsoft account for just the Store without switching to a full Microsoft account. The process, however, is not terribly obvious. To do so, follow these steps:

• Launch the Store from your Start menu.
• Click the user icon next to the search box.
• Click “Sign-in” from the menu that appears.
• Choose “Microsoft account” and log in like normal.
• When the “Make it yours” box appears do not enter your password. Instead, click “Sign in to just this app instead.”

Installing Windows 10 using Windows 7 key

Nope, you need to install Windows 10 first and make sure the Windows 7 key is transferred to your Windows account after you've installed Windows 10 (not quite sure how that works). I missed the last step and I could not activate Windows 10 after a re-install... Microsoft seem to have done everything they can to make it a PITA. Also, it's technically too late to do this now anyhow, as the upgrade offer has expired. But KMSPico works quite well...

As for getting rid of Windows, delete the Windows folder.
