Windows 10: Windows 10: password lock out

Hi

Yesterday, Windows Defender told me I should set a password.


I started to do that but part of the process, formulating a 8 digit password to meet its high level requirement. But as it then required my old password to proceed, which I did not know (or even if i ever had one) I quit the program & closed it.


Overnight, my pc was powered down & I switched it back on but it now wants a password.


I have tried every one I can think of or have ever used anywhere, but no luck. I am locked out.


I tried Re-booting, pressing F8 & have successfully reset the administrator & user passwords from the advanced menu that way, but it made no apparent difference.

Windows 10 lock screen password

• On the Windows search bar, type in Netplwiz and select the top most result.This window gives you access to Windows user accounts and many password controls.
• Right at the top is a checkmark next to the option labeled Users must enter a username and password to use this computer.
  Uncheck that.
• Click Apply and it will prompt you for your current password. Enter it twice. The next time you reboot, or your PC wakes up from a nap, you’ll no longer need to type in your password.
