Discus and support Windows 10 PDF bug in Windows 10 Customization to solve the problem; Good afternoon, I am at a loss with one user issue at our organization.     Windows 10 PDF bug


    Good afternoon,


    I am at a loss with one user issue at our organization. She is currently running into an issue with .PDF extension randomly changing. She uses Bluebeam as her default PDF program but when it changes it defaults to Microsoft Edge. I have tried nearly everything I could think of. I have removed her local profile, I reset windows. I rebuilt her a new PC.


    I upgraded all programs to the latest versions. I upgraded Windows to 1909. I had her use a completely different active directory account. I deleted MS Edge. I know this has something to do with user choice. I tried all those registry changes but it keeps changing. I tried the default association .xml trick no luck. Microsoft why can't you just remove the user choice process when Windows thinks a program is a issue. That should not be up to Microsoft to determine. Has anyone had any luck with this? I'm ready to pull my hair out.

    Best free PDF software?

    I use:
    • UnityPDF to merge/split PDFs and to insert/extract pages
    • doPDF to create PDFs from any program that is capable of printing
    • Foxit Reader to view PDFs and to type in them

    Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

    Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK

    Print to PDF missing in Printer List

    Hi William,

    We suggest that you disable and re-enable the Print to PDF feature. Here are the steps:

    • Click on the Start menu and type in Windows Features.
    • Choose Turn Windows features on or off.
    • On the next window, find Microsoft Print to PDF and disable it. Click
      OK to save changes.
    • Restart your PC.
    • Repeat the same steps to re-enable Microsoft Print to PDF.
    If the issue persists, we suggest that you perform the troubleshooting steps suggested on the link below under
    Advanced:

    Fix printer problems
