    Hey all,

so i installed windows 10 home on a new ssd from scratch, all is going great except the image viewer is making me a bit dizzy from the scrolling while viewing images.

i'm thinking there must be a way to disable that effect when changing pictures and just have them appear , or fade in, fade out ?

Or if you have alternative apps to suggest that does roughly the same thing, like fullscreen, copy/move images or folders of images, yunno to manage the collection, that'd be appreciated.

    cheers!

    :)

Image preview in File Explorer - Windows 10

    FYI: I found this:

How get Windows Photo Viewer working in Windows 10

Which works to make the old Windows Photo Viewer your default program... but I had to go and undo it, because in doing so, it makes it so double-clicking opens the Photo Viewer. Now, it DOES go and make the Photo Viewer scroll through search results.
But I was wanting a right click option that brought back the old Photo Viewer functionality, as well as leaving the double-click set to your normal photo editing program.

In the comments on that page, there is a registry edit that puts the Preview option back near the top of the right-click context menus, but I think all it does is save you the extra click into the "Open with" sub-menu. (it's the same thing, a Photo Viewer
that does not scroll through search results, which is what I'd like it to do)

Photos app often displays sharp images as somewhat blurry (includes example)

I have this exact problem with the photos app still to this day and keep my system constantly updated! I thought it was my printer but went round and round with them so now i want to discuss it with microsoft to bring back windows photo viewer and get
rid of the photos app in windows 10!!!

windows 10 photo viewer, get rid of scroll effect ?

    Hi there

The scroll should only work from WITHIN the application if you use the Mouse scroll wheel. You might be able to set mouse settings.

On a Touch screen just slide the pictures.

    Cheers

    Hi
If it is the Photos app that is the default viewer on windows 10 which you are refering to and you prefered the Windows Photo Viewer app of previous windows operating systems then you could do this.
Copy the following code into notepad and save it as a .reg file then merge it.

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Applications\photoviewer.dll]

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Applications\photoviewer.dll\shell]

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Applications\photoviewer.dll\shell\open]

    Hi there

There is NO photoviewer app in builds 10240 onwards (including RTM).

It's now Photos (a Metro / modern GUI type app) - and IMO is far better than the old photoviewer app. Launch it from the Tiles on the Menu.

You CAN pin it to the desktop if you don't want to launch from the Menu -- it's a bit involved to do it but it's do-able, I'll Post later.

Ms Paint still works (Just type Paint anywhere in the menu area) or you could install Irfanview (free).

    Cheers

That's fine but those files photoviewer.xxxjust don't exist any more on the system (at least if you have done a clean RTM install they don't).

I was looking for fade in and fade out since I lost it on Vista. I could not find it for 7. I have just found Windows Photo Gallery. Its hard to find the settings, but its there and awesome.

It's not a bad app, I just have to get use to the new look.

By pressing edit, you have a lot more features that weren't available on the old viewer.
    I'm starting to like it.

windows 10 photo viewer, get rid of scroll effect ?

The Photos app was unusable for me, see my post about the image quality being blurry:
Pictured Are Blurry in Windows 10 Photos App

Also, you can't even click a button to view photos at 100% original size.

Can't seem to get this to work for some reason. It states that "the specified file is not a registry script." *Sad
