Windows 10 post 1803 cannot display file/folder count & size correctly.

    User @eventtrac in question https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/windows-file-explorer-not-showing-correct-folder/933ade81-55e1-4cd5-a4b1-614044fab64e?page=10 suggested that;

1- HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\FileSystem LongPathsEnabled Type: REG_DWORD must exist and be set to 1.

2- Group Policy at Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > System > Filesystem > Enable NTFS long paths.

These settings already have been in this way long before when I first struck by this famous "Windows 10 post 1803 cannot display file/folder count & size correctly" behaivour.

    So,

These settings mean nothing to a non-1903 user.

    Very simple questions I have:

1- There is a rumour that "Windows 10 post 1803 cannot display file/folder count & size correctly" issue has been fixed/solved in 1903. Is this correct?

2- If so, please submit any MS related documentation, reference, etc. showing they accepted this as an issue and fixed it in 1903.

3- If "Windows 10 post 1803 cannot display file/folder count & size correctly" issue has still hoping for the future not been fixed in 1903 but you think/believe/know it was fixed in 1909, please submit any MS related documentation, reference, etc. showing they accepted this as an issue and fixed it in 1909.

    Simple as it is

For me, I'm still on 1809, trying to recover PC from unbootable OS after lame January 2020 updates via recovery environment's DISM. LMAO

    :)

    • Have you installed any third party anti-virus on your system?
Meanwhile, I suggest you to follow the steps below and check if this helps.

    • Open File Explorer.
    • Click on View from navigation pane and choose Detail pane.

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK

Windows 10 post 1803 cannot display file/folder count & size correctly.

I have added the file count column to my folder in File Explorer. However, the actual file count is not displaying.

    • Using File Explorer, I navigated to the folder I wanted to view the file counts, I right clicked on the column labels and chose File Count.
    • This is occurring on any folder when I try to use the File Count column
    • I currently use Windows Defender and Malwarebytes
    • I also tried changing the View to Detail Pane, that did not make any difference.
