Windows 10: Windows 10 Pro 1909 downloads and installs automatically 2004 when check for updates

Everything worked just fine related to updates but something changed in the last week in my case Windows 10 Pro 1909.


In Settings -> Update & Security -> Windows Update when I click on [Check for updates] button it finds the upgrade to 2004 only and starts to download it automatically. I have to click on [Pause] button to stop the installation. I tried different tips & tricks I found on Internet like Group Policy, Registry hacks, Network meter without any luck.


Actually Windows 10 forces me to install 2004 upgrade but I don't want it. I would like to keep my current version 1909 and install all the other updates like before. Did anyone find a solution for this? Someone indicated in a Forum that responsible for this is a program named Update Notification Manager which runs in the background. If it finds a new upgrade you have the only option to install the upgrade to a new version. Personally I did not find any information how to change a setting a revert back to normal update process.

windows automatic updates

i have some questions about the windows automatic updates in windows xp pro w sp/2. ive got about forty updates they recommend , mostly for security but i only installed two today. after installing them i found them in my add/remove programs in the control panel, if i add all these updates that is a lot of space on my hd almost 1 gig. i thought that updates just updated files and not created new programs. should i innore all these update suggestions from microsoft?

I updated to Windows 10 PRO Ver 2004 and continue to have issues with Windows Update: It just stay at "Downloading - 0%" and nothing happens. I am again continuing to use the Microsoft Windows Catalog to update my software. This is not right! I paid a little
more money to get Windows 10 Pro and still not getting proper service.

Again, any suggestions and help is appreciated.

Windows 10 forced download

^This, then reboot and go to manually update windows. Find KB3035583 in the list of available updates, right-click and "Hide this update" so it doesn't get installed again next go around.
