Windows 10: windows 10 Pro 64- bit: cold boot does not work well, have to try a few times then it...

I rebuilt windows 10 on Dell T3610 with Sumsung SSD and 128GB RAM and Xeon E5-1620 CPU v2. I have the system on with Dell S2817Q monitor with minidisplay port connected.


it is weird issue I never seen in the past: When I boot it, the Dell logo shows on the Dell S2817Q monitor, then windows logo shows and loading icon spins, then no signal send to monitor by the machine, but I can see the PC is running from the led light and the sound. I have to try this a few time and then it boot up normally.


if i use the restart from windows-->power. it works fine.


I adjusted the BIO and have the SSD and DVD as the boot medias also try to use the SSD only, disabled the USB boot. I cannot figure out what is wrong.


but if the PC boots up normally, it works just fine. I have done some work on it after I rebuilt it. the cold-boot is the only issue for me now. in fact, I am using it for this post now.

9700 Pro cold boot syndrome

I have a powercolor 9700 pro that has the cold boot syndrome (fails post on cold boot, reset machine and everthing works fine). Does anyone know if flashing to the latest vid bios will remedy that? The card has been tried in D865PERL, Soyo P4S, ASUS P4S800D-X, Soyo Dragon Ultra (Platinum), and now an ECS NForce3-A. *Mad All mobos exhibit the same problem. On some other forums, people have claimed that changing memory timings has helped. Any suggestions?

 

Windows 1903: Collapsed Start Menu after cold boot

I use Start Full Screen similar to Windows 8, containing 111 tiles to my most used apps.

The latest version of Windows 10 Pro 64-bit version 1903 Build 18362.239 has been installed.

Issue

After each cold boot, the first time I start the Start Menu, the top menu tiles are collapsed into the row below.

This behavior happened after upgrading to Windows 1903.

Workaround

Only if I sign out and sign in again, will the menu display correctly.

Questions

1. Are there more people experiencing this issue?
2. Is there a way to restore the correct Start Menu behavior after a cold boot?

Compability of Asus H97-Pro with Windows 10 (64-bit)


I'm planning to have Asus H97-Pro & Windows 10 (64-bit) in my new system.

While cross checking compatibilty I landed on Windows Compatible Products List
and according to that Asus H97-Pro is only comatible with Windows 7 & 8.

Please suggest whether Asus H97-Pro is actually compatible with Windows 10 or not.
