Windows 10: Windows 10 Pro Activation Error

We bought a Dell laptop in January of this year. It came with Windows 10 Pro pre installed. It's been running fine up until today, where it's been spamming me that "my Windows is expiring" and that I "need to activate my key". The problem is, I don't have a key, I've never had one because it was already installed on the laptop.

I've Googled the problem, and it doesn't show much help. I've tried going under the settings and into the troubleshoot option, where it's supposed to have an option for activation troubleshooting, but because I don't actually have to activate anything, that option isn't there. If I go under the activation tab directly, it just gives me the option to change my product key, where is my product key, and if I have a question. There's no place to troubleshoot for errors for it. I also do not want to download some sketchy program that claims it will "fix" the problem What one site recommended I do . I tried to get a hold of someone in support over the browser, but it wouldn't work, it just told me to ask in here or to call them, and I don't really feel like talking on the phone.


If it helps, when I first booted the laptop up today, it acted as if I had just turned it on, asking me to sign in, giving me different "getting started" things, all that. I shut the laptop down via the button, and when it restarted, it acted like normal, with me signed in, all my stuff still here.

Windows 10 will not activate Error code 0x803F7001

Possibly there can be the problem with Microsoft activation Server, so your Windows 10 is not activated. In this scenario, you need to wait and verify if it is the issue from Microsoft’s side. But if you are getting error code 0x803f7001, you can also try these steps:

1. Open Settings app. Then go to Update and security > Activation screen > Change product.
2. Type your Windows edition product key and click Next.
3. You’ll get We couldn’t activate Windows error message.
4. Retry steps 1-3 then type your 25-characters unique product key.
5. Wait for the process to complete, Windows 10 is activated.
