Windows 10: Windows 10 Pro changed to Windows 10 Home after another clean install?

Hey Guys

I have a really strange issue going on, I don't know what Microsoft are up to.

Ok so from the top, I have a Sony Vaio which had 8.1pro on it, I did an in place upgrade via the media creation tool, and it updated and activated successfully.

I then did a clean install from iso, ( skipped the product key prompts ) and it worked, initially would not active, but after 24 hours it did.

I then ran into a few issues with drivers and thought I would give it 1 more clean install, ( again skipped the product key prompts ) once it loaded, it now states Windows 10 Home version and again will not activate???

Have any of you guys experienced this issue?....do you think it is linked to their activation server issues?

I rang MS and they were very unhelpful ( international call centre ! ), basically said not to do a clean install?

Not sure what to do now, I don't really want to install the original 8.1 sony image as it takes around 3-4 hours!

Unable to activate windows

If the device came pre-installed with Windows 8 Home then the key you have located with the command is for Windows 10 Home edition and not Windows 10 Pro. If you changed to Windows 10 Pro from Windows 10 Home then you would have needed to buy another licence
key.

To go back to Windows 10 Home requires a clean install wiping all data from the hard drive.

 

Is there a way to perform a clean install of Windows 10 Pro on a computer that originally shipped with Windows 10 Home?

I have purchased a computer with Windows 10 Home. I have also purchased an upgrade to Windows 10 Pro. I upgraded the OS to Windows 10 Pro. After performing the upgrade to Windows 10, the product key information stated "Windows 10 on this device is activated
with a digital entitlement." Then I downloaded and ran the Windows Media Creation Tool. Then I performed a clean install of Windows 10 from a USB drive created earlier using the Windows Media Creation Tool. Upon checking the version of Windows, I was frustrated
to discover the edition was listed as "Windows 10 Home". I performed ANOTHER upgrade of the OS to Windows 10 Pro.

Is there some other way to perform a clean install of Windows 10 Pro on this computer that originally shipped with Windows 10 Home without having to perform a clean install of Windows 10 Home followed by an upgrade to Windows 10 Pro?

 

Did you use the same ISO each time, or did you recreate the ISO from the MCT? If so, you probably created the wrong version.

 

Definitely the same version my friend.

 

Tried another clean install with same image, this time did not connect to the internet until the desktop icons had loaded, correct edition and activated.
Strange?, but resolved.
