Windows 10: Windows 10 Pro for Workstation update failed with error code 0xa0000400 updating from 1809...

I'm using the "Windows 10 Update Assistant" downloaded from Microsoft in order to upgrade/update to version 1903.


I purchased the computer from Dell this summer and this is the first time trying to update it to a newer release of Windows 10 (so that it is on the same release as my laptop).


When the EXE is run the program does some checking and the results are contained within the C:\Windows10Upgrade\upgrader_default.log file.


In my case the upgrade process never starts (aborts before downloading any files) because of:

2019-10-21 06:06:47.037, Info Downloader last state: 0, msg: Invalid EditionId 161

This is a specific error code, can anybody come up with an explanation/solution for it? I don't need to hear about using an ISO image to do the update, etc. It's obvious the EXE aborts for a specific reason.

Windows 10 pro for workstation update failed with error code 0xa0000400

I'm using windows 10 pro for workstation version 1809. And I want to update to version 1903 by using windows update assistant. But I received the error "0xa0000400"

 

Windows 10 Anniversary Update Error Code 0xA0000400

I'm running Windows 10 Education (Build 10240), and when I attempt to manually update to the Anniversary Edition (Build 14393), I get an error code 0xA0000400. The update does not even attempt to install, as soon as I click "update now" it fails immediately
with this message.

 

Windows update failing

I just finished building a pc and installed win7 pro 64bit. Most of my updates downloaded and installed but I have 2 important and 1 optional that will download partially then fail.

I am getting error 80072EE2. I have tried everything I could find on google and the Microsoft help links that windows update provides with the error code but haven't been able to fix the issue. Anybody here have any ideas?
