Windows 10: Windows 10 Pro "License due to expire soon"

Bought second hand desktop PC in July but last 2-3 weeks keep getting License due to expire notice. Contacted vendor who advise that when he acquired PC it had Windows 8 pro which he upgraded to Windows 10 Pro and has no idea why this is happening, although suggested it might be an update putting a spanner in the works. Having read other questions on Community I managed to get a screen capture after running Command Prompt - slmgr -upk. Looks like I have a volume license installed. It shows Activation ID etc. but I'm guessing this is not the actual License number? I can't find the original post that I obtained this information from but got the impression I could, somehow, re-active this License myself - or will the same problem keep occurring?


Please bear in mind I am in no way technically minded so , while I can follow instructions, explanations need to be in layman's language! Have I been conned or is there a way out of this? If I just ignore the Expiry notice what will happen?


P.S. I had no idea what Windows Pro was - I'd be just as happy with Windows Home

Windows license will expire soon

I have recently factory restored my hp envy windows 10. Now i have this message "WINDOWS LICENSE WILL EXPIRE SOON". Im not sure if this is important but i have sent in my hp envy for warranty repairs on the hard disk drive. I bought my hp with windows 10 home edition, but when I sent it in for repairs it came back with windows 10 pro. Any suggestions

Windows 10 Activation reports your license will soon expire.

This can happen for a number of reasons:

• You copied a Windows 10 Pro off the Internet (usually a volume license - organization - key) and changed on a Windows 10 Home installation. Windows 10 Pro is not free. If this is what you did, you will need to reinstall the previous edition
  or version you were running. You inadvertently installed the wrong edition.
  • The copy of Windows 10 you download and upgrade from will correspond with the edition of Windows you have installed, if it does not, this is why you might be experiencing problems activating:

• Windows 7 Starter, Home Basic, Home Premium, Windows 8.0 Core, Windows 8.1 Core will install Windows 10 Home
  

• Windows 7 Professional, Windows 7 Ultimate, Windows 8.0 Pro, Windows 8.1 Pro will installWindows 10 Pro

If the edition of Windows 10 installed does not correspond with the edition of Windows 7 or Windows 8 you were previously running, then you need to reinstall the right edition.
