Windows 10 Pro OEM fresh install, receiving error upon boot 0xx00000e9

Receive the below error after my computer boots before setup starts:
    RECOVERY

There was a problem with a device connected to your PC
An unexpected I/O error has occured
    0xx00000e9

This is on a new build, I purchased Windows 10 Pro OEM from newegg and received a DVD with windows key as expected.
    Microsoft Windows 10 Pro 64-bit - Newegg.com

I tried downloading the Windows 10 media Creation Tool and I created a USB stick with Windows 10 Pro. This gets into the installation just fine! But obviously the CD-Key won't allow me to proceed since I have an OEM CD-KEY.

    I tried the following things:
    -Different CD Drive
    -Different SATA cable
-3.0GBps SATA ports instead of 6.0

Of course none of these fixed the issue. Need some help!! Does anyone know what this issue is or how to get around it? Or maybe where I can download an ISO or USB stick version of the OEM software install? Maybe the DVD is corrupt or something?? Only thing I can think of..

    :)

  2. Activation of Windows 10 fresh install

Windows 10 upgrade was not quite right so started the process to revert to Windows 7. Ended with access to nothing, no boot.

Did fresh install of Windows 10 and found that it would not accept the Windows 7 product key. MS support checked and stated that the key is not accepted because it is an OEM key. I was told the only way is to install Windows 7 with the hours upon hours of
updating. The OEM key was acceptable to any W7 OEM or Retail.

I am disgusted that the Windows 10 install did not accept the key thus requiring a time wasting effort.

Why on earth is the key acceptable to fresh Windows 7 but not to fresh Windows 10. It is the same key that ultimately is acceptable after the tiresome process.

    Why ,Why !!!!!

    Unable to install windows 10

Yes this much I know. However during the free upgrade period I'm fairly certain that I have another machine that was able to install Windows 10 Pro but of course it was a upgrade and not a fresh install. Sounds like to be able to install a fresh OEM version
of Windows 10 you MUST be able to use the UEFI BIOS type to boot.

Windows 10 Pro OEM fresh install, receiving error upon boot 0xx00000e9

Make sure all cables are firmly connected, reseat the RAM, reseat Video card.
In addition, download: CrystalDiskInfo6_3_2.zip - CrystalDiskInfo - SourceForge.JP , unzip and run to make sure your HD is in good health.

Tried all of that and no resolution. Setup starts if I use the USB stick with Windows 10 pro I got from the Windows 10 media creation tool (cant proceed because I only have OEM cdkey), so I don't think it's an issue with my computer and I tried with 2 other DVD drives (one being an external USB DVD drive) with the same result so the issue isn't there either.. Either something is wrong with the DVD I received from Microsoft / Newegg, or there is some sort of incompatibility with the OEM version of Windows 10 Pro and my machine. Thanks for the suggestions though, hopefully someone else has an idea of what's going on?

There is no different in the setup/install media for Windows 10 OEM DVD and the download from Microsoft via media creation tool or Tech Bench. Make sure you downloaded the correct edition ISO file - same language and regular Windows 10, N or Single Language edition matching your product key.

Do you have a working computer that will read the DVD? You can insert the bootable USB flash drive you have already made and just copy over the files on it with the files from the DVD and then use the USB flash drive to boot from.

I don't think you're correct Navy, the OEM key appears to not compatible with the download from the media creation tool. I just tried again, I have tried 64-bit Pro and 64-bit Pro N and both give me the same invalid cd key message. It's almost definitely a bad CD I have. I tried to make an ISO of the cd on a different computer and it received a not readable error after a couple minutes.

Can anyone provide me an ISO of Windows 10 Pro 64-bit OEM? I purchased it from newegg, but appears I have a bad disk: Microsoft Windows 10 Pro 64-bit - Newegg.com

    Thanks all.

I think NavyLCDR is correct - as usual.*Smile I think what you got from Newegg is mainly the key - the DVD w/ISO is relatively incidental and nothing special about it - included in your purchase as a convenience. As already asserted, make sure you're downloading the correct version of ISO from MS. Make sure you're typing in the key correctly - can't imagine as credible an outfit as Newegg shipping a bad key - but have seen stranger things happen.

Run the product key through showkeyplus and see what it says:
    Showkey - Windows 10 Forums

Click the check product key option and then enter your product key.

You can also install Windows 10 Pro from the USB flash drive made from the download, skip entering Product Key when asked during the install. Then go to the activation screen from settings, updates & security and select change product key, then enter your provided product key and see if it activates. That way you won't have to wait for them to send a new DVD to you to try out.

Sorry you are correct. There is nothing special about the OEM license. It worked fine with the download from the windows 10 media creation kit. I must have typed in the cdkey incorrectly the first time (even though I retyped it like 3 times!). I did not have the network cable plugged into the computer the first time around, and I did when it worked, I highly doubt that anything was communicated and/or it made any difference, probably just bad typing.. But thought I would throw that out there anyhow..

    In the end:
-This was a bad installation DVD provided by Microsoft / Newegg
-And my fat fingering / very small OEM cdkey label text
-In the media creation kit I chose the "Windows 10" option which worked, the N was not valid for this license.

    Thanks all for your help!!!
