  1. Windows 10 Pro Test Mode watermark - Unsigned driver

Hi all, couple of threads on reddit about this. None with an answer. I have an unsigned USB gamepad driver installed. I disabled driver signing to allow this. Since then I have a test mode watermark. How do I remove the watermark but keep unsigned drivers enabled? My Windows 10 is genuine and activated.

  2. Test Mode Watermark on Windows 10

    Hi Marjie,

Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community.

I understand that you are getting test mode watermark on Windows 10. I will certainly help you in resolving the issue.

The test mode watermark may appear in the bottom right part of your Windows desktop, if you install an application whose drivers are not digitally signed by Microsoft and if they are still in the testing phase.

I recommend you to follow below steps to disable the test mode watermark and check if it helps.

    1. Right click on Start, click on Command Prompt (Admin).

    2. Type bcdedit -set TESTSIGNING OFF and press Enter.

(The TESTSIGNING boot configuration option is disabled through the above BCD Edit command)

    3. Check to see if the issue is resolved. If not, restart the system and check.

  3. NFarrow Win User
Windows 10 Pro Activation and Test Mode Watermark.

A users machine has been upgraded from windows 10 to Pro. The process went smoothly according to my IT colleague and bitlocker has been turned on, however the user is getting the message that Windows needs activating and as of today TEST MODE has appeared
    as a watermark.

We have tried running the activation troubleshoot that doesn't go anywhere but tell us we aren't online (which we are)

The same Microsoft account is logged in that was signed into activate the upgrade via settings but is stating nothing is linked to the account.

The purchase of Windows 10 Pro shows up if we log into Microsoft store.

    What else can we try?

The TEST MODE watermark is a new one on me.

  4. Windows 10 Pro Test Mode watermark - Unsigned driver

    Test Mode Watermark Windows 10

    Hi Lee,

To assist you better, kindly provide us more details by answering the following questions:

    • Which operating system are you using?
    • When did you start encountering the issue?
    • Have you made any changes on your computer prior to the issue?
The test mode message indicates that the test signing mode of the operating system is started on the computer. The test signing mode may start if an installed program is in a test phase because it uses drivers that are not digitally signed by Microsoft.
Microsoft added test mode to Windows so that users can test programs without having to provide an authentication certificate.

Meanwhile, to help resolve your concern, we suggest that you follow the steps below:

    • Press Windows key + X on your keyboard.
    • Choose Command Prompt (Admin).
    • Copy or type the command below and then hit Enter:

      bcdedit -set TESTSIGNING OFF

Should you need further assistance, feel free to get back to us.
