Windows 10: Windows 10 Pro update from 1803 to 1809 failure (stop code: Memory Management)

Had this problem on the same PC updating my Windows 10 (Home) to 1803. Exactly the same error stop code: Memory Mangement.

I purchased a Windows 10 Pro licence and did a clean install of 1803 all worked fine but it was a big pain reinstalling all the applications again.

Now running 1803 happily but would like to update to 1809.

I am getting the same stop error code: Memory Managementm no other help after the first reboot then the PC hangs with power light flashing on and off.

After a couple of power downs the PC restores to previous version i.e. 1803.


I know it will do it from an iso disk but reinstalling tens of apps and re-syncing onedrive would be a huge pain and time consuming.

I have previously tried a paid for app migration tool with mixed results (not all apps migrated and passwords not).

I have done the sft check, I have run memtest and all shown clean.


Any advice would be appreciated.

After Windows 10 Pro 1803 update attempt - Windows 10 Pro show "stop code - "Driver Power State Failure" then automatically rolls back to Windows 10 Pro 1709.

Has anyone seen this issue, if so how did you go about fixing it?

My solution is to take a second computer same model (Panasonic CF54) - Install Windows 10 Pro 1803 then install all apps.

It would seem there would be a way to correct the problem that the Microsoft update is creating without having to perform a clean install of the Os then install all apps.

The stop code: MEMORY MANAGEMENT is usually caused by memory failure and driver issue, and software conflicts. In the meantime, we suggest performing a
clean boot to determine if there's a software conflict.

Windows 10 update version 1809 fails to install and reverts back to version 1803 on my Surface Pro (5th) with windows 10 Pro

Windows 10 update version 1809 fails to install through Windows Update and reverts back to version 1803 on my Surface Pro (5th gen) with Windows 10 Pro. I also tried to manually install this update by deleting the Windows Update folder (Windows/SoftwareDistribution)
and downloading update 1809 from the Windows 10 Downloads site (Windows10Upgrade9252.exe).

Same problem : Download ok, install hangs at 84%, hits black screen, restarts the pc and reverts OS back to 1803.

After deleting the windows Update folder and eventhough this update 1809 failed to install, it does not show up as failed anymore and is also not found through Windows Update anymore.

* Any suggestions on how to have this update 1809 installed correctly on my Surface Pro (5th gen?)

* Some of my windows updates get installed in the Programs and Parts list, not in the Installed Updates list

(KB4023057 for example), Why is this happening and could this form a problem with updating to version 1809 ?
