Windows 10: Windows 10 Pro upgrade from version 1803 to version 1809

Hello,


My OS is Windows Pro. I was having problems with Windows not installing updates with version 1803. I saw a video that instructed me to upgrade Windows to maybe solve the issue. I went to: Microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows10. My system upgraded to Windows Version 1809 (which took like 9 hours!). Anyway, everything seemed to be working fine for maybe an hour. But know my laptop is very slow connecting to websites, typing, just slow in general. Also, when starting up sometimes the my desktop icons flicker and my taskbar icons disappear for a moment then reappear. I'm also having freezing and black screen issues. My computer installed three 1809 updates. I checked to see if any more updates were available and I get the "You're Up to Date" message. I also ran the Disk Cleanup Tool. I went into Microsoft Edge in "Apps and Features-Advanced Options" and did a repair. I also went to the Command Prompt (with Administrative Privileges) and ran: "chkdsk/f. I even went to "Intel Driver Support Assist" to see if there were any drivers that I needed and get the message: "Sorry there are no software updates available for your system". None of these things worked. Here's the specific information for my laptop:


--Dell Precision M6500

--OS: Windows 10 Pro (64bit)

--Intel Core i7 CPU Q 740@1.73 GHz

--6GB RAM


I really don't want to "Reset This PC" if I don't have to. Can anyone please help me?

Windows 10 Version 1803 to 1809

In Settings, About, Windows specifications are shown as:

Edition Windows 10 Pro

Version 1803

Installed on 27/10/2018

OS build 17134.556

However in View update history, Feature Updates (1)

Feature update to Windows 10, version 1809

Successfully installed on ‎16/‎12/‎2018

My question is

1. What version am I running?

2. How can I update the information to show correctly(?) the version number in About Windows specifications if it should be 1809?

Windows 10 update version 1809 fails to install and reverts back to version 1803 on my Surface Pro (5th) with windows 10 Pro

Windows 10 update version 1809 fails to install through Windows Update and reverts back to version 1803 on my Surface Pro (5th gen) with Windows 10 Pro. I also tried to manually install this update by deleting the Windows Update folder (Windows/SoftwareDistribution)
and downloading update 1809 from the Windows 10 Downloads site (Windows10Upgrade9252.exe).

Same problem : Download ok, install hangs at 84%, hits black screen, restarts the pc and reverts OS back to 1803.

After deleting the windows Update folder and eventhough this update 1809 failed to install, it does not show up as failed anymore and is also not found through Windows Update anymore.

* Any suggestions on how to have this update 1809 installed correctly on my Surface Pro (5th gen?)

* Some of my windows updates get installed in the Programs and Parts list, not in the Installed Updates list

(KB4023057 for example), Why is this happening and could this form a problem with updating to version 1809 ?

What I suggest you to do now is to do a clean install of 1809. You don't select upgrade this PC because you are already at Windows 10. Upgrade is only if one is using a previous version of Windows and want to upgrade to Win. 10.
