Windows 10: Windows 10 Pro Version 2004 Build 19041.423 almost all programs crash

I'm at a loss. Friends computer, by the way.

Chrome doesn't crash, at least it hasn't yet. But....most other things do.

What is found to be not working: -Steam: steam itself won't always load library. Just sit on a blank page. Some steam games won't open, or will open and hang so they won't open completely. Gmod does this for instance and will hang at the last little bit of loading. Or you get it and can't join multiplayer. -Origin: app itself won't load the page. It will just be a refresh cycle and never show anything. You'll see the spinner then the like template of a page then back to spinner. -Discord: crashing randomly. But I can make it do so by just clicking on chats for a few seconds. -League of legends: Game and Riot app won't open.

Other things that I see wrong, but don't know: -in device manager, there are 3 "Other Devices". 2 "PCI Device" and 1 "PCI Encryption/Decryption Controller" (Just found, looking into this now)

What I have done: Lots.... -Updated BIOS -Swapped RAM sticks -Tested with memtest86, said all good -Tested hard drive and SSD from windows -Fresh windows install -Windows updates -Updated graphics card drivers -Tried opening things as admin or with compatibility mode -Defragged hard drive -Enabled virtualization in BIOS -Installed some of the Microsoft Visual Redistributables for 64 and 32 bit

Hardware that might be relevant: AMD Ryzen 5 3600X ROG STRIX B450-F Gaming EVGA GTX 960 2x Corsair 8GB DDR4 3000MHz Samsung 860 EVO 2TB drive, I don't know Air cooler works, so it isn't overheating

Does anyone have any thoughts? I would really appreciate the help....

I suggest you run rthdribl > http://www.daionet.gr.jp/~masa/archives/rthdribl_1_2.zip
Increase the window size step by step and watch your vga temps permanently.
What happens?
If it crashes, run at stock speeds as suggested before and retry.

P.S.: When your system locks, does the display signal turn off after a time?
Stuttering sound or no sound at all when freezing?
What X1800XT model do you own exactly?

 

Version 2004, OS build 19041.207

I was having problems: open programs and OS freezing, errors when updating W 10 Pro ver 1909. While trying to solve those concerns, I stumbled into upgrading to Version 2004 build 19041.264. I followed Eiji T's example with clean boot using msconfig.
After hiding Microsoft services, I disabled half the listed programs. The freezing continued. I reversed the active programs. The problem seemed resolved at first. Before I could add programs back within msconfig, the freezing returned. I have no doubt my
problem lies deep in Windows 10. ....Ver. 2004 is not to blame.

 

Windows 10 2004 - Corona version

About a week ago I have been bombarded with the messages that the servicing 18-months period of my build of Windows 10 (1809) has expired and I need to install a new build 2004. Build 1809 was pretty stable and everything worked fine, but I have decided
that no harm to install a new build. How I was wrong! With installing new build 2004, the Windows 10 nightmare has begun: constant BSODs, installing updates that crashed my computer regularly, uninstalling updates, debugging, reinstalling drivers, crashes,
crashes, crashes. New version 2004 was simply a disaster. One week of not being able to use a computer, trying to debug here and there, using tools such as Reparo, Tweaking, trying to repair Windows files, registry, everything. In the end, I have just realized
that it is simply a corona version of Windows 10 destroying my computer. I've now rolled back to 1809 (the last October release), paused updates for 35 days and voila! Everything works like a charm, no more crashes and everything works like it should. My suggestion
is that this corona infected build should be immediately quarantined and removed from updates once and for all.
