2. Windows Installation

Hi all, I need help. I recently build a pc and got it to work (BIOS can be loaded and everything seems fine) but during installation of windows 10 pro from a USB drive, I got a BSOD (blue screen of
death ) with the error code 0xc000021a. Any suggestions? The BSOD will appear after the part where the pc will restart to finish up the windows installation

BSOD, Critical Process Died

I had been experiencing crashes not limited to critical process died, to the point that I couldn't even load windows in safe mode, the computer even crashed while in the shift+restart menu.

I have formatted the drive and reinstalled windows, updated my drivers, and have once again experienced a BSOD.

I am using Windows 10 pro x64 version 1709

Running sfc /scannow shows no issues.

Running Chkdsk shows no issues.

I'm using an SSD and S.M.A.R.T shows no issues.

When the crash occurred the BSOD was stuck at 0% so I had to hard reset and it created no crash dump.

Hi and welcome to tenforums *Smile

So the verbose analysis shows a problem with nvlddmkm. this is an nvidia driver (your graphics card GTX 670).
When we follow the thread we can see that this driver is having an issue.
Code: Child-SP RetAddr : Args to Child : Call Site ffffd000`290d40b8 fffff803`a016c2e9 : 00000000`0000000a 00000000`00000000 00000000`00000002 00000000`00000000 : nt!KeBugCheckEx ffffd000`290d40c0 fffff803`a016aac7 : 00000000`00000001 00000000`00000000 fffff803`a031b878 c8e00001`0a909963 : nt!KiBugCheckDispatch+0x69 ffffd000`290d4200 fffff803`a005e865 : 6ad1331c`723ebf00 0000002a`ab08ff6e 00000000`00000202 fffff803`a009c2bc : nt!KiPageFault+0x247 (TrapFrame @ ffffd000`290d4200) ffffd000`290d4390 fffff803`a00ec94f : ffffd000`290d0000 ffffe001`f65253a0 ffffe001`faab36a0 00000000`000003e2 : nt!PspReturnQuota+0x45 ffffd000`290d43f0 fffff800`6c331556 : fffff800`6cd28580 fffff803`a009038e fffff800`6c382374 ffffe001`faab3550 : nt!PsReturnPoolQuota+0x2b ffffd000`290d4420 fffff800`6cd28580 : fffff803`a009038e fffff800`6c382374 ffffe001`faab3550 ffffe001`f007a180 : nvlddmkm+0x41556 ffffd000`290d4428 fffff803`a009038e : fffff800`6c382374 ffffe001`faab3550 ffffe001`f007a180 fffff800`6c336892 : nvlddmkm+0xa38580
within this thread there is a reference to the IRP
Code: IRP List: ffffe001efcce300: (0006,0118) Flags: 00000404 Mdl: 00000000
when we follow the irp we see that the same driver is mentioned once again.

Code: fffff800`6c2f0000 fffff800`6cf15000 nvlddmkm T (no symbols) Loaded symbol image file: nvlddmkm.sys Image path: \SystemRoot\system32\DRIVERS\nvlddmkm.sys Image name: nvlddmkm.sys Browse all global symbols functions data Timestamp: Tue Feb 09 05:28:39 2016 (56B96AF7) CheckSum: 00BF2DF6 ImageSize: 00C25000 Translations: 0000.04b0 0000.04e4 0409.04b0 0409.04e4
I went online and looked for Windows 10 PRo 64-bit driver for the GTX 670
it seems that there are new drivers (march 2016) for our card http://www.nvidia.com/download/drive...x/100868/en-us

I would suggest to use DDU to remove all your previous drivers and then reinstall the latest drivers.

Goodluck!

Thanks you!
As I know that the lated nvidia driver have big problem. It can "detroy" the graphic card
so can I install it? or any safe version of it?

I'm not aware of the problems with latest drivers.
But you could always choose to install a previous version if you would like to yes. these can be found on the same website.
