Windows 10: windows 10 pro

I have 3 windows 10 computers all Dell, 2 less than a year old. 2 have windows 10 pro, 1 has windows 10 Home. When I click on Network sometimes the other two will show up, sometimes 1 or none will show up. Why the variation? If I click on one or the other if they show up I get this message "you do not have permission to access \\PINEROOM-PC." Pineroom is the name of the other windows 10 pro. I have spent hours with all the standard web blogs etc. with no success. As a side note, when I hook up an older windows 7 laptop to the network, the windows 10 computers can see it and access the Public Folders imagine that. The windows 7 laptop can see the windows 10 computers but get the "you do not have permission ... message.


Among the many, many efforts to gain access to the Public folders on the computers on wired home network, I have "shared" the Public folders with no results. I have changed permissions with no result. It is mind numbing that MS has disabled a very useful, reliable item like home group to force the heard to One Drive. Why can't they resolve the basic issues of "discovery" and network file/folder sharing over a basic wired home network. Why call it "Public Folder" when it is not accessible on the network. Sorry for airing my frustration. Please help.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Can't upgrade from Windows 10 Home to Pro

I suggest you to download and create an installation media for Windows 10 Pro form the link provided below:

Download Windows 10

After the installation media is created, suggest you to upgrade to Windows 10 Pro from the installation media. When the upgrade asks for product key, enter the product key purchased for Windows 10 Pro. If it does not accept, suggest you to skip the activation
step. After the Operating System is installed, suggest you to activate by phone by following the steps below:

• Press “Windows key + R” and type “slui 4” and press Enter.
• Select the Region from the list and click Next.
• Call the Toll-Free number provided on top and can activate via phone.
