So I upgraded to win 10 pro (oem) after reading win 7 will be no longer receive updates and what not after jan 2020.

While the performance is a huge improvement over win 7 pro and the look and feel options much overdue. There is a few aspects to the Windows 10 Professional edition that are making it feel like it is not intended for professional users of Windows OS at all and is accommodating a "we know better than you" approach.

    Update and security options:

Absolutely hate that, yes hate, we cannot set windows updates to "notify and let me choose" whos idea was it to remove this from Professional edition? Are you implying we cannot make intelligent decisions on what updates our system needs? I have never installed the malicious tool ever and now it is installing automatically.

    Virus protection:

The fact this cannot be turned off in the professional edition and it catalogues all "threats" is ridiculous. I run comodo firewall on custom ruleset. I have never needed anything else in over 10 years nor have I been infected with any kind of real threat since. I do not need any of the features listed in this section, none! I really dont like how it scans the system in the background constantly. it stops simple .bat files running. While yes we can set folders to be ignored it is still active constantly.

the fact the word Professional is used in this edition is a slap in the face to tech-literates who know your OS inside and out.

It honestly looks like Microsoft is slowly moving Windows to a closed system rather than open.

What will be next stopping users utilizing regedit edits? msconfig, services??

With the addition of the services mentioned above I feel you are keeping a large percent of you users tech-illiterate which is not the way forward. people need to make their own mistakes to learn.

    :)

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK
