Windows 10 - Random drops in performance

    Hi,

So I have a weird issue with a new laptop. Sometimes the performance of my computer suddenly drops massively with no apparent reason. It usually happens in the middle of an intensive task such as gaming or video rendering. For example while playing my fps will go from 60/80 to 8/10 in an instant, or a render that took me 30 minutes on first try will now take 5 hours to complete.

My hardware doesn't seem to be overheating, my power settings are set to best performance and this happens even when I'm plugged in or at full charge. In the task manager, my cpu and gpu will be around or below 20% utilization (RAM at 75 - 80% though).

All my drivers are up to date and usually everything will get back to normal after a reboot.

    Here's my system :

Ryzen 7 3750H with RX Vega 10 Graphics

    Gtx 1660ti Max-Q

    6 Gb of RAM

    :)

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK

That's what the auto setting will do since you're over the 1333 mark it jumps to the next step which isn't listed or officially supported I assume by that ram.

At this point though I would suggest dropping the multi one step or .5 so that we can get something stable and possibly take the heat issue out of the picture for now.
