Windows 10: Windows 10 reactivation

Hi


I upgraded to Windows 10 from 7 via the free offer in 2015, and have used it since with no issue, I am also a windows insider preview participant testing on the fast ring.


This morning my PC got corrupted through I think a system mechanic clean which adversely affected the registry, and I could not re set the machine or access. My only option after hours puzzling was to reinstall my original Windows 7 and try to re install 10. I used the media creation tool to download a new copy but asks for the licence and does not automatically recognise the machine. I know my microsoft account is linked to the insider preview programme, but when I rang the microsoft helpline they said I had to purchase a new copy. This seems perverse as they can see from my microsoft account what version of windows 10 I was on but state i have to purchase a new licence?


Probably my fault for reinstalling Windows 7, but I could not access the PC at all it went around continual loops of being unable to reinstall, reset or even used the command prompt to try and restore the machine.


Can anyone help or advise?

Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

DTS supported natively by Windows 8/8.1 and it should work on windows 10 too just DDL require to unlock your driver .
