Windows 10: Windows 10 refuses to sleep

This laptop sleeps with Windows 10 so far.

 

I just solved this on my system today. I was getting the dual svchost.exe entry in powercfg -requests as was indicated in one of the posts.

In my case, in Device Manager under the Sound, video section, I was showing a HD Audio Device with a yellow triangle. I tracked that device down and it turned out to be the Intel Display Audio for an Intel 4600 Graphics system. Installing the HD 4600 Graphics drivers from the Intel site added that HD Display Driver and the yellow triangle went away and the system started sleeping.

I suppose my recommendation would be to check the Device Manger for any Code 10 type devices with a yellow triangle, or as showing as Unknown Device.

 

Are you saying that the svchost requests don't show up now or that they get cleared? Or???

My svchost requests are definitely from the win updates. Sometimes they have (wuausrv) after them which is pretty definitive and they only show up after an update.

No indication of device dvr issues on this PC.

Yeah an Update will fix that sleeping ( from working to not )

 

That's my belief (hope) but I can't confirm it.
I installed the latest version for everything I installed in WTP, so I haven't had any other software updates yet.

How should I know!? *Wink If it auto-updates, it won't tell me it did, will it?

If it will tell me it updated, then I guess it hasn't had any updates.

 

You can look in Windows Update / View update history.
I got 2 updates today for WTP 32 Bit and 3 updates for WTP 64 Bit.
If you have MS Office you may get more today.

 

Well, that did not last long, heh. My computer is no longer sleeping. I THINK it is due to Homegroup sharing this time tho as it stopped sleeping once I had all of the computers synced and sharing libraries. Back to work troubleshooting AGAIN.

 

I've got to get a new HD so I can do clean bare metal install and test that way *Redface *Sad
I'm testing Win 10 TP in a VM and "some things work differently..."
Most, if not all the issues I've seen, seem to be answered by using a VM...

 

I've done two clean installs on different hardware and got exactly the same svchost result.

So, 3 nil to MS!!

 

You know when it stops sleeping!!!!!

I just checked and had a Pending Update waiting for a reboot.
I normally have Win alert me for available updates, but can't do that in WTP.
I got NO notification of the pending update or required reboot.

I don't know if this is normal for those using "Auto Update" ???

I manually control if and when updates are installed ...
I also don't re-boot very often, I use sleep and hibernate.

Same here. I rebooted to get rid of the request and saw an update occur. Afraid auto update is what it says.

But, this is part of taking up the Preview offer. They have to have everyone on the same release. Imagine the frustration of heaps of people complaining about something that had already been fixed.
