Windows 10: Windows 10 remote access question

Hey folks. Some questions...

I understand that I need Windows 10 Pro edition on the computer I will be accessing remotely. Does the laptop I will be using remotely need to have Windows 10 Pro as well in order to access the desktop at home? Or can it be Home edition?

I can't seem to find a solid answer to this online.

Another question... And thanks for your patience... Would I be able to, remotely, restart the desktop at home if need be and still be ok to access it after I do so?

Remote Access

1. Follow these steps to disallow remote access to your PC completely:
2. 1. Type “remote settings” into the Cortana search box. Select “Allow remote access to your computer”. This may seem counter-intuitive, but this opens the Control panel
   dialog for Remote System Properties.
3. 2. Check “Don't Allow Remote Connections” to this Computer. You've now disabled remote access to your computer.

Try these two steps and tell us if your issue gets solved. If it does not then your PC may be infected. Use a Good antivirus to remove the infection from your device completely.

 

Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK
