Windows 10 restoring folder from previous version in AppData skipped

I'm trying to restore a previous version of a folder located in AppData/Roaming but every time I attempt it, it skips over the folder with an error that says, "Restore skipped restoring the file:".I've seen some people suggest using the "Restore to..." option but it's greyed-out for me.Is there any fix to this?

  2. Windows 10 restore to AppData\Local folder: Restore skipped restoring the file...

The Win7 Backup & Restore program, which is still part of Win10, works great for backing up files in their folders. When it comes time to restore those files, you can pick specific folders or files to restore, if you want.

The actual restoring, however, is far from easy, if you need to fix something broken in your Users\*\AppData folder. The restore will appear to have taken place, but the error.log file will say "Restore skipped restoring the file: ..." for each file. It
won't restore anything in that folder, in other words. It's all locked down, somehow.

The labyrinth of advanced security settings is not easy to navigate, either.

    How do I fix this?

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK

Restore previous version of Chrome User Data in Windows 10

    Hi all,

one of my Chrome extensions recently lost all its settings overnight, including a whitelist that I very heavily rely on. I'm trying to restore the User Data directory to before these settings disappeared, and indeed the Previous Versions function in Windows 10 tells me older versions are available for being restored.

However, when I try to restore these, I get an error message that reads "Restore skipped restoring the file: [entire directory] to original location." The options for Restore To and Open also greyed out. I've read many accounts of people restoring their Chrome user data using the same method, so I'm not sure why I am unable to do the same.

The directory is located in C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data, which makes me think it may possibly be a permissions issue. I've already made sure all Chrome processes are ended, but to no avail.

Any suggestions would be highly appreciated!

    Thanks a lot in advance,
