Windows 10: Windows 10 'Run as adminstrator' not working when run from Cortana search box

When I search for a desktop app such as Command Prompt or Registry Editor from the Cortana search box, then select 'Run as administrator' by right clicking the app or selecting 'Run as adminstrator' from the right hand pane, nothing happens.


If I go to the App file directly (for example C:\Winsows\System32\cmd.exe for Command Prompt) and then right click, I can successfully load the App as administrator once I agree to the Consent Pop-up message.


This action happens for all existing users of the PC as well as any new user I create.


User accounts are members of the Adminstrators Group.


I am only aware of this problem since January 2019, previously everything worked as normal.

Can't type in Cortana search box

Hi Brendon,

Is you keyboard working normally on other apps such as Notepad? If not, run the built in troubleshooter for your keyboard. Here are the steps:

• Type Troubleshoot in the Search box and press
  Enter.
• Look for and run the Keyboard troubleshooter.
• Follow the onscreen instructions.

• 
  Right click on the task bar.
  
• 
  Go to Cortana.
  
• 
  Click on show search box.
  

Now check if you are able to find search box.

Cortana search box changed to white color


This just happened to my laptop on upgrading to Pro! Step 3 here fixed it for me Change Color of Cortana Search Box to White in Windows 10
