  1. Windows 10 secure boot options.

I was looking into my bios settings and i noticed my OS Type is set to "Other OS" on the secure boot settings is this correct or should i be changing it to Windows UEFI mode? for what people told me secure boot can help protect my pc against rootkits and i want to make sure i have secure boot configured correctly if that's the case.

This are my secure boot settings on my BIOS (Asus motherboard)

    Secure Boot state = Enable

Platform Key (PK) state = Unloaded

    OS Type = Other OS

    Are these settings correct?

Windows 8 Secure Boot Feature: Not So Secure?

    • Linux
    • Linux
    • Linux
    • Linux
    • Oh and OSX
Here is a statement from a Kernal Developer at Red Hat:

I'm not sure this exploits the legacy BIOS but rather it exploits the legacy boot method on MBR drives, injecting a signed key before the OS boots, which you are correct in that it has nothing to do with Windows 8. And the simplest fix would just be to require boot drives use GPT when Secure Boot is enabled in UEFI.

  3. Windows 8 Secure Boot Feature: Not So Secure?

So Linux is switching to secure boot also? Or they have to because of UEFI?

    Windows 10 secure boot options.

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK
