I like Windows 10. At first my internet was unusable because it always said limited access. This I found was due to the anti virus installed. Since removing the antivirus I have no problem.

If it wasn't for that metered connection setting, I wouldn't use W10 at all. For instance, running the upgrade over W7 used up a big chunk of my monthly data allotment, so any larger downloads will have to be deferred until my data resets at the end of August.

Hopefully the update of Edge will come sooner or later with the ability to enable extensions. I use Dragon NaturallySpeaking because of a disability and it doesn't work with Edge at this time.

Other than that one issue my conversion from Windows 7 Pro to Windows 10 Pro went very smoothly and everything is working fine.

  6. There's actually quite a bit wrong with Windows 10, but if you dig deep enough, fixes are possible.
I won't wait for MS to fix the sink holes in W-10.
I've already embarked on fixing them myself.
It's a hacker or Software Guru's dream, or should I say Nightmare.

    It IS getting interesting.

I just read your thread you linked to and I'm not sure I get what the issue is. I'm running the "final" version of 10 on my laptop and was able to set Windows Photo Viewer as default through the Default App setting and its working for me.

As a photographer I save my images in both tiff and jpeg and setting these files to use Window Photo Viewer works fine here. I just switched them from using the "default" Photos app to WPV and had no issues. Additionally I just tried right clicking and image and chose a default app to open my images and that worked as well.

Perhaps I'm missing what the issue is?

    Thanks.

The source does not say enough about what exactly is being fixed.

I don't think you read the entire thread, then.

Windows Photo Viewer works perfectly fine if you upgrade from W7 or W8.1 to W10, or if you upgraded from a beta build of W10 to the release build. This is because if you upgrade, the registry file associations for WPV carry over. But if you clean install, then the issue is there. This is because the clean install is missing the registry associations for WPV, which is a major bug that MS is overlooking.

Hopefully this is fixed in SR1.

All in all my experience upgrading from 7 Pro x64 to Win 10 has been a good one, even considering the automatic download on launch day crapped out. I ended up using the Media Creation Tool to upgrade and that worked first time. Unfortunately because of the aborted download it used up 4 extra GB of my monthly 10GB allotment which will and up costing me an extra $40 (yes my ISP charges me $10 for each GB I am over!). I';; have to wait until the 18th of the month for the new billing cycle to get the SR1.

Does anyone know if SR1 will include the contents of KB3081424?

I'd hate to download stuff twice.

  15. Ouch, you really do have a metered connection. I have "Unlimited" Internet, but I'm sure my ISP's definition of unlimited isn't the same as my definition.*Wink
