Windows 10: Windows 10 Settings App Opens and Closes Instantly and All quick settings grayed out in...

So I updated to Windows 10 October Update 1809. After Updating everything was working properly but after a few days the settings app stopped working. It closes instantly after opening. Also the quick settings in the action center are grayed out.


To fix this problem I did a repair install of Windows 10. The Settings app worked for 1 day after the repair install. After a day it reverted back to the close instantly problem and the quick settings in action center are grayed out. This time I tried to reinstall all included apps in windows and re-register Windows Settings with Windows Power-shell as Admin. The commands completed successfully but did not solve my problem.

Windows 10 Settings keeps closing instantly

I have just upgraded to new release of windows insider preview.

When I try to open Settings, it appears then disappears instantly.

Also, when I right click on desktop and choose Personalize, settings window appears for a second and closes.

The version ov windows: Build 16188.rs_prerelease.170430-1928

Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Open settings of Windows 8 App

In response to your query, please be informed that Windows 10 is in the list of supported operating system for Modern Reader. Also, the swipe from the right option is for Windows 8 and 8.1 therefore, that step will not open the settings. However, most
apps have their own settings, therefore, I suggest you to look for a gear icon in the app and check if you are able to find the option you are looking for.
