Windows 10: Windows 10 slow opening Apps

Hi, I should never volunteer to help someone with PC problems as I have very limited knowledge. I was given a laptop to replace the HDD and fit a new SSD. The HDD was running windows 10 OK. I fitted the Sandisk and downloaded a fresh copy of Windows 10 and the rest of the updates. Opening the Edge Browser, a page took 10 -15 secs to load. At this stage there were no other programs on the Laptop. During the loading of Windows 10, there were two errors which I was given the option to skip. OOBE Welcome and OOBE Keyboard.

I then downloaded from the MS site a fresh copy of windows 10 in case the first copy was corrupt. I came across the same 2 errors and when fully installed ( I completely removed the firsat copy of Windows 10) MS Edge took 10-15 secs to open a web page.

I downloaded Firefox and Chrome and the problem existed with these browsers. I went in the trouble shooting option and run a repair. It seemed to clear the problem, pages opened instantly. I installed MS Office and Norton's 360, and the problem came back, however it is intermittent. Can anyone please help.

Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Mail app will not open on 10041.

This is the suggested solution below if you haven't already tried it.

In this Windows 10 build 10041, the Mail, Calendar, and People apps may be broken due to a licensing issue with the Store Beta. To get these apps working again, you need to follow these steps:

• Open powershell as administrator
• Run the command Get-appxprovisionedpackage –online | where-object {$_.packagename –like “*windowscommunicationsapps*”} | remove-appxprovisionedpackage –online
• Re-install Mail, People and Calendar from the Store (green tile)

 

Mail app will not open on 10041.

I did that to no avail, then I ran WSReset.exe; now I'm good on all 3, Mail, Calendar and People! *Confused
Go figure!
