You have an option to add word as you type, and also choose within limited suggestions.
    It is very basic IMHO.

I do that when I need to.. It would be nicer if you can do that all at one time in a batch rather than one at a time.

Jeff write this already and I've missed it. Sorry about that Jeff. *Redface
And yes, it is very, very basic. You don't want to know, how clumsy it is to switch between languages.

OK, so if I only have US English, and have added no other language, there's no way to change anything? Because I don't see it.

As I understand it, settings in your picture are the only settings left for user. Except, you can add handwriting under Language.
And for display language it works (well is strong word - basic).
I have peculiar setup: Region is set to Slovenia and display language is set to English (US). So I have to manually add basic typing to Slovene. *Sad

Thanks, Dencal. That gets me further, but still doesn't do much for me. *Smile Maybe it'll be enhanced as Windows continues to grow.

Depend on Microsoft to have Eleventy Seven ways to do one thing. Which is good, I guess, since we can depend on at least one person stumbling onto something good and passing it on. *Think

(By the way I did my best to fool it on scholars but it was always an option? Go figure.)

Sometimes the corrections make for more fun reading than what was intended! Although i have had to add a few custom corrections to avoid certain words that, while legitimate, would never be used in 'polite company'*Confused.

Even worse, I have noticed that sometimes, i SWEAR t typed (it knew "t yped" should be "typed" but the correction did not remove th

    PS: I just found this>
And I am happy to note that maybe MAYBE i found the answer to the "i" problem *Biggrin

On a hunch, i added it to the autocorrect for MATH functions. I also changed the one in text from i replaced by I (which did not work anyway) to i replaced by o. THEN. I edited that again back to i replaced by I and saved the change. Finally i did al this in a brief test email which i Saved rather than sent.

I then opened a new email and tried everything i could to get it to fail. Every instance of a single lowercase "i" was corrected to the proper capital "I". >> I should add that i also checked a few other places that looked like possibilities as well in all the options but something i did worked .....at least for now! I guess I have to stick with WORD and Outlook to get the "fix" but better something than nothing, right?

For anyone that may be helped by this: I have seen published other odd things that can be fixed this way. Saving a blank email where you "fix" certain issues such as the ZOOM size for the reading pane etc. Not sure if all of them are still true but this could have some effect on the "normal dot dot" file I suppose.

This has been a very interesting thread to say the least.

Obviously, different teams worked on different tasks. They just never came together to complete the circle. In type settings (under Devices) and in Language settings the "More" button is missing, which would connect two teams together.

That would make Eleventy eighth way obviously *Biggrin.

i finlly "RE" located the script for a complete across-all-apps script for spellcheck utility. It was located on HowToGeek but is pretty old. 2011. SO probably it wont fly now. http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/45068...n-your-system/
To top that off, it requires AHK which Windows (or Chrome) politely blocked telling me it was "Bad for me". Not sure what that was all about. Actually, what I need is more like an Auto-Typo corrector *Smile

I'm not sure, but it seems to me that the only way to get an auto-typo-corrector would be within programs like Word or Word Perfect and maybe some of the freebie Word and Word Perfect emulators.

Reason being that although each one has auto-correct words already built in, you can't expect it to auto-correct everything. Names of Cities, States, Towns, etc. come to mind.

In fact, I use auto-correct for things other than misspelled words. For instance, when I have Word set up so that when I type liv I get Livingston Independent School District or livpo I get Livingston Police Department. Appr would get me Livingston Appraisal District. You just have to be sure to use something that's not a part of a real word. *Smile

  15. I agree. And I also have the same setup you do with "favorite abbreviations" and it works very well within Outlook or Word. The thing that puzzles me a bit is that i can highlight and copy text on a webpage and paste it into notepad and it obviously is recognized as text.

I use notepad on purpose as a "code stripper" to clean up the text i might have to paste into an html code of my own. Can;t have all those hidden characters and stuff hanging around to mess things up.

My point being that text is text (at least to some degree) and because of that it can be regulated by a standard set of rules.

I am not saying that such an application could be "one size fits all" and it would almost be a necessity that it ONLY work from a "custom.dic" type file. My Typos are not the same as those You make. Yet for me, they are a constant reminder that I am not a good typist. Or more like 'not a slow and careful' typist *Smile A "typo corrector" that would only work on things each user miss-typed - no matter where I typed them and apply only the rules I setup to work from.

This would also have to run concurrently with any normal spellcheck to handle words that I really do misspell. Outlook/Word is about as good as I have ever seen. If I could get that same level of correction across the board it would be an improvement. The spellcheck in Chrome or most browsers is sometimes puzzling as to how they can offer so many odd options for a misspelled word yet never offer the most obvious choice.

Why no one has ever tried to use a low-level of AI in the equation is beyond me. If you misspell a word, you get the same options I do and everyone else does and those options never change unless you finish and allow the Auto-Corrector to add your choice to the "correct as I type" list. If you , like me, can't let a red-lined word stay up for more than a second, and correct it "in line" with your writing that correction is not stored.

On those that are, unless you are prescient to the point of being a fortune teller, you will eventually add an auto-correct option that is right 90% of the time, but still have a 10% wrong usage. So your next document ends up with things NOT red lined that are obviously not correct when used in that context. I have seen some that are obviously wrong when read in context with usage , yet my auto-correct has set it to be used regardless of context. Sometimes the outcomes are humorous; but none are desired and a misspelling might be better than a mis-USED correct spelling in many cases..
