    Windows 10 Start Button and search box do not work after last "critical update


    After the last "critical update" on June 24, my computer's start button and search box do not work. Also, under the "Computer" tab in File Explorer, I tried clicking on the Settings button as well as the "Uninstall a program" button and neither seem to do anything as well. Is anyone else having these problems? Any ideas? Help!! Thanks in advance.

    HyperSLI (Enabling SLI on non-sli motherboards)

    To turn off windows updates in windows 7 follow these steps:

    Click the start button, in the search box type in 'windows updates', click on 'windows update'
    in the search results list, in the left side of the windows update window click 'change settings'
    then in the option bar select 'Never check for updates'.

    Windows 10 Critical error on start button

    I have run the system file check (sfc), DISM and the second step as suggested above and still cannot use the start button in Windows 10. The "critical error" message no longer appears but that's all.

    Start button and search bar not working

    Problem that start button and search do not work has NOT been resolved. I have tried the steps suggested in previous answers but this has not worked. Altogether very frustrating and a big turn off to my opinion of Windows 10. HELP!
