Windows 10 started crashing with no changes to PC

Earlier in the week, I started getting the BSOD. At first I could restart and it would work for an hour or so. It started to become more frequent and soon windows would not even boot. I tried to do a fresh install from my installation disk but it would not work. I went and bought a new SSD and did a fresh install from my disk. It work fine for about an hour. I was able to update all driver and update windows. Now I am getting the BSOD again. I am not at all a computer expert but I will try my best. Thanks guys for your help!

File explorer crashes since Windows 10 update KB3150513

This has recently started happening on both my Windows 10 PC and my mother's Windows 10 PC.

    File Explorer keeps crashing.

    Hi mdgudger,

It appears that there is something wrong with the filesystem on your SSD.
In your situation I have a few ideas as to what might cause that.

Where did you get the installation disk?

Let's see if we can fix the present corruption, please run below tests.

I bought this SSD this morning and the installation disk is a genuine Windows 10 Home 64bit disk a bought from Amazon.

Click 'start' on error scan tab and wait until it is finished.

That doesn't sound very good TBH, many users who buy Windows from Amazon or ebay turn out to have been scammed.

Chkdsk found corruption of the filesystem but could not repair it in read-only mode (because you are using the filesystem while running the command).

Please run the following from an admin command or PowerShell prompt (right click start button -> Command Prompt (Admin))

Code: chkdsk.exe /R /X[/quote] Press 'Y' when prompted if you would like to schedule a disk check next boot. Then reboot your computer and let it check the disk and attempt to repair it. After it has completed please post the new chkdsk event log entry like you did before.

You should also update your Intel Rapid Store driver to the latest version. You are on 15.5.0.1051 while the latest release is 15.7.0.1014.

Here is the official download link: https://downloadmirror.intel.com/26865/eng/SetupRST.exe

    Please read the suggestions properly.

15.5.0.1051 is the latest on the MSI support page, I don't recommend using Intel directly for driver updates.

I've never seen the upstream intel rapid store drive cause issues, while on the other hand I have seen vendors fail to post links to the newest version, whereas the "current" version on their page has known defects.

He is getting filesystem corruption, but it's not readily apparent what caused it, which makes me wonder if it will happen again. The likely culprits besides sudden power loss would be storage drivers, disk firmware, or some other kernel panic.

I have several times seen up to date IRST drivers cause many issues, but then, reading the web it turns out to be quite a pain in the ass in the past.

mdgudger, please follow the instructions of spectrum carefully.
Enter chkdsk C: /r in an admin command prompt, or admin powershell and press Y when asked to schedule the task on reboot.
