Windows 10: Windows 10 stuck on release 1909

My Lenovo X1 Carbon 5th Gen laptop seems to be stuck on release 1909 of Windows 10, which has twice been superseded by versions 2004 and 20H2.



The Windows Update tool says "The Windows 10 May 2020 Update is on its way. Once its ready for your device you'll see the update available on this page." and gives this link https://docs.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows/release-information/status-windows-10-2004



I've checked for obvious issues holding this up, including:

1. ensuring there's ample disk space to download the update, and

2. running from Settings 'Troubleshoot -> Windows Update',

3. running Lenovo Vantage service app and using it to ensure system is fully up-to-date with up-to-date drivers including BIOS.



Any ideas why I'm stuck on an old release?

Will a complete Update be available ? Do You have any idea about the reported errors of 1909 in the startup and the security options ?

While there is no official release date, it is expected that version 1909, will be released approx. on Patch Tuesday in October (2nd Tuesday of October)

If you are already running, that will be downloaded automatically as a cumulative update to version 1903, rather than as a full Feature Update . . .

Otherwise, the release of 1909 will be similar to the 1903 release, it will be a stepped release to compatible devices first . . .etc.

 

Windows 10 1909 Causes Secondary Hard Drive to not be Recognized

Installing the Windows 10 1909 Update causes my secondary hard drive to not be recognized.

Steps to confirm issue:

• Secondary drive not visible in Windows Explorer
• Secondary drive not visible in device manager
• Secondary drive not visible in disk manager

Steps to replicate issue:

• Installing 1909 update

Steps to resolve issue:

• Uninstall 1909 update

Since updates can only be delayed for so long, an actual fix would be appreciated.
