Ah ok, that's something i don't use, Outlook at work yes but not at home.
How Outlook works on a domain wouldn't be a fair test.

I'm testy..Beam me up. It gets frustrating repeating over and over and over again that the Subscription is for OFFICE 365 ONLY and it is monthly or yearly depending on how you want to give your money to Redmond. I marked this as solved and I thought that would close this thread. I was wrong, I have never even seen OFFICE 365 and I do not nor do I want to know anything about it. Office 2010 works just fine for me. If MS make it not usable that would be fine as since I will be 67 in August I really do not have a need for any Office program. I use Outlook 2010 but Thunderbird would work just fine. Carry on.

Yes, clearly, you were. Perhaps though you (accidentally) opened a thread that people like to discuss?

I do anyway so thanks *Smile

Glad that you like it but I was not being testy. Some users would not understand sarcasm if it hit them in the head. I was a huge House MD fan so maybe that explains it. I did not open by accident though. But I was being sarcastic when I said in the OP 'Renting an OS"*Smile

I'm sorry but you sounded a bit serious rather than sarcastic. And yes.. I for one can spot sarcasm.

OK, you like renting houses and think therefore renting an OS is normal. I get it. You probably have your phone on contract and lease your car.

I'd like to try to explain compound interest to you but it would probably be a bit tricky.

The bottom line is that subscription models are ALWAYS more expensive in the long run than outright purchase. When I was a system manager for a major large system operating system, we priced our products such that a 3 year lease was equivalent to an outright purchase. That is OK for people who change their systems all the time. But if you want to keep a product for 5, 6 or 7 years, it is more expensive.

I don't know the French prices, but in Germany I pay appr. $18 for DSL6000. Now that is not very fast but it suffices for my purposes.

We in the USA go by megabits not megabytes for speed.

The other day there was on forum member that actually reported that he had a GigaBit line. He was somewhere in the Carolinas and the service was provided by a local company. He paid $85/month. That would be nice to have everywhere.

You are faster then me, but I am on economy service. It works for me, I am able to watch videos and movies very little buffering if any. Only couple of sites I have issue with but they use flash in a weird way. Normal price for my economy service is $39.95 plus modem rental without cable, with limited cable it is 29.95 plus modem rental and around $25.00 for cable. I am currently on a special of 19.95 plus modem rental but I may have got that extended for another year.

The pain is if you want to upload a big file. Like I have a 7GB file that I would like to upload to OneDrive. But at that speed that is quasi impossible.

In Lafayette there is Gigabit service about 7 miles from me I have 50 megabits and can get 100 Megabits for $85, 50 is fine for me.
