Windows 10: Windows 10 Subscription Plan

Not sure how this compares to the US but i pay £26 for BT Infinity 2 Unlimited

 

That is very good. In Florida I pay over $50 for this miserable speed. And there is only 1 provider. So I am stuck.

 

That is a real shame, the broadband market has become very competitive here, while the majority of providers use the BT network to deliver broadband there are many offering great packages.

Take TalkTalk for example, i can get a similar package for £15 per month (£10 for the first 6 months) however their service is shocking so I'm sticking to BT.

I dare to say there is at least 10 different providers i could go with.

 

That's a decent price for that package, especially the upload speed. I pay £80p/m for my Virgin package including full TV, the broadband service is excellent but they really need to upgrade their upload speeds.

I'd never move off Virgin to be honest, I've found their service first class.

 

But you are using software that is 8 years old. I know, it works and does what you need so you keep it. But if you had bought the same subscription model back then, you would have been upgraded from 2007, to 2010 and then to 2013. How much would it have cost you to upgrade 3 times during that period? Also, you would be getting upgraded to Office 2016 this year. I know you are going to say you don't want the upgrades but that is irrelevant.

I didn't say the subscription model is good for everyone but, with all you get, it's not a bad deal.

I can't speak for the rest of the world but here in the US, there are lots and lots of people that rent housing because they can't afford to buy and lots that lease cars because they can't afford to buy. I can believe that there are people who would find it difficult to come up with $129 at one time but could manage to squeeze $7 out of their monthly budget.

 

I hate upgrades. We used Office 2007 but on my wife's new laptop we had to install Office 2010 because we had no more free 2007 keys. Already that is sufficiently different that she is discombobulated.

I know in the US everybody lives on borrowed money and then they are in a tizzy when it comes to paying the bills. Even the government cannot manage with the trillions they rake in. You can only hope that the Chinese do not want their money back on bright Monday morning.

 

I decided to read the article from the first post and the blogger had noticed that MS registered Windows 365 and then he started thinking of what might be going on. Maybe MS is giving W10 upgrades for free and after you are happy with W10 your next system will be offered with a W10 365 subscription which gives you free upgrades to future versions of Windows. The free upgrade to W10 may be like an OEM license. When your device dies you can't transfer the license to a new device. This is just another thought and I have no idea what will happen with W10.
