    Windows 10 suddenly says Activation Needed several days ago


    The Windows Activation Troubleshooter says "Something prevented us from communicating with our activation servers. Wait a few minutes and try again. (0xc0020036)
    I have had the free upgrade to Windows 10 from years ago when it was first offered. I have never had any issues with Activation before.
    I googled this and I found others with the same issue but no suggested links worked. I thought that making sure that my microsoft account is linked to this pc but still same issue. No other scans show any issues. I figured It almost has to be one of the recent updates or something that caused this issue, so i waited and waited...

    Windows asking for activation every few days??

    I upgraded to windows 10 from windows 7 months ago without issue. Now after the fall update (1511) it tells me every few days that windows 10 is not activated. I go thru the steps to enter my windows 7 product key and it says I am now activated yet a
    day or two later back to non-activated status.

    I won't buy a key, stupid.

    I'll revert back to windows 7 then.

    When I still was on windows 7, about a year ago I added 4GB extra ram which is a total of 8GB now,
    is that causing the problem?

    How long did you wait for activation?
    When I re-installed with a fresh install... it took a few hours to sync and activate.
    However, it did, finally, activate.
