  1. Windows 10 to Windows 7 connectivity issues.

My wife is legally blind and while she has limited eye sight, she can and does use her computer for creating office documents, email, social media and games. Of course she does get a lot of help from me. To that end I have shared her drives folders and files on our Local Area Network (LAN), and while her computer shows up on the network from my computer and I can see her drives, it will not allow me to access anything. I set sharing permissions on her system to Read/Write, but when I click on a drives, it gives an error as if her computer is not on the network. I used to work for a networking company, I was one of their network engineers, now while this was a while ago, I haven't run into a problem like this since the Windows 2000 server and Windows Millennium connectivity fiasco. While I have done everything I can think of to do, the solution still eludes me, yeah I am 63, and it might be old age rearing its ugly head, I think there is more to the story. Any help resolving this issue is welcomed and appreciated. Note that upgrading my wife's computer to Windows 10 is not an option at this time, as I said she has issues with her eye sight and any all encompassing changes are very hard for her. I had to change her system from Windows XP because of support issues, so while Windows 7 and Internet explorer on that platform is supported I will not subject her to extensive changes again, until I have no other choice. Thanks in advance for your help.

    :)

  2. Issue with Windows 7 Gadgets

For some strange reason, my Windows 7 gadgets (Weather, GMail, etc) can no longer connect to the internet and update themselves. I have added both sidebar exe files (C : \Program Files and C : \Program Files x86) to the Windows Firewall Exceptions list. It is the same issue even when UAC is enabled. What could be causing this? Thanks for any help.

I also just realized that my Windows Update is not working as well, so that may be a related issue.

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK

Installing Windows 10 using Windows 7 key

Nope, you need to install Windows 10 first and make sure the Windows 7 key is transferred to your Windows account after you've installed Windows 10 (not quite sure how that works). I missed the last step and I could not activate Windows 10 after a re-install... Microsoft seem to have done everything they can to make it a PITA. Also, it's technically too late to do this now anyhow, as the upgrade offer has expired. But KMSPico works quite well...

As for getting rid of Windows, delete the Windows folder.
