Windows 10 txt files not indexed : Registered iFilter is not found


This is a new issue. Seems to have come with recent updates.


FYI: This issue has been a issue for at least 10 years. Amazing it keeps recurring. With NO clear resolution.


Does anyone really have a solution?


The problem is clear:::: Registered iFilter is not found for TXT files


How do i obtain and install the iFilter for TXT files?


The indexer is working fine until last week: ONLY txt files are not indexed.


Please do NOT post about how to index.

msg registered IFilter not found

Running W10 & Office 365

I have a few files that are msg type - these are not being indexed by WDS. On the Indexing Options File Types the msg box is ticked and Registered Ifilter is not found.

I have downloaded, from a Microsoft site the msg Ifilter and installed which reported a success. The indexing option still report the same message. I have ran scanpst - re-index WDS, un-installed msg Ifilter, re-booted, Ran CCleaner on the registry, re-installed
the Ifilter AND still i have the same problem.

Please any new ideas.

Generating a .txt based file list in Windows 7

No, that > bla.txt is the target file to write to. You could use a wildcard in the argument, ie c:\windows\*.txt which would list all dlls in c:\windows. But adding that to a simple right-click would be tricky.

Basically you would execute fancyfile.bat c:\windows\*.txt, fancyfile.bat would then write all .txt files to bla.txt.

 

Find a word in a lot txt files

Or you can just use the Windows search function. Look under indexing options > advanced > file types > and have windows index file contents for txt files.
