Windows 10: Windows 10 unable to installl updates 0x80073712

I am having trouble installing two Windows updates and it's driving me crazy:

1. Update KB4534132 error 0x80073712
2. Update KB4541335 error 0x80073712

I have tried a lot of things:

• Downloading and installing the update manually installation failed
• Restarting Windows Update CMD > 'net stop wuauserv' and 'start'
• And other CMD options

Any more options I can try?

Also, I am experiencing a lot of bluescreens. Maybe it has something to do with it all? Getting there since the end of January

• DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION
• SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION

Windows unable to update and Error code 0x80073712

This issue might have occurred due to corrupted/ missing Windows Update components. Try the below troubleshooting steps and check if it helps.



Method 1: I suggest you to run Windows Update troubleshooter as it resolves the problems that prevents you from updating windows.

• Press Windows + X, click on Control Panel, select Category and then select Large or Small icons.
• Click on Troubleshooting and click on View all in the left pane.
• Select Windows Update to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter and follow the on-screen instructions.

Method 2: Perform SFC and
DISM

Windows 10 0x80073712 KB3172985

I received a thumb drive from Microsoft ( there were issues down loading the image) for Windows 10. I used it to reset my Surface Pro 3 to Windows 10 and it worked. I was then able to install update KB3172985 without getting error 0x80073712.
