Windows 10: Windows 10 unable to update past ver 1703

Up and though ver 1703 Windows 10 was able to update itself without problems. Ever since 1703 Window 10 updates fail to install. What is irritating is I often get the message "We can't tell if your PC has enough space to continue installing Windows 10. Try restarting Setup" even though I have a 500 GB WDC SSD drive with 96.7GB free. I have run Windows Upgrade Trouble Shooter. I have tried various fixes I have read about. So far nothing has worked including taking out my other hard drives in my system and just running my 500 gb C drive. If I could stop Windows from trying to update it wouldn't be so annoying, but since I can't it is quite frustrating. I just can't believe that MSFT can't fix this especially since the update precheck tells me everything is ok including disk space and the update doesn't seem to have any problems until the very end of installing when I get the "can't tell if your PC has enough space .." message.


If anyone has any suggestions or questions or similar experiences please let me know.
