Windows 10: Windows 10 Update 1903 uses up all RAM and then fails to install (error code 0x80240034 )

When installing Windows 10 Update 1903, the Windows Update service uses up all of my available RAM (5.5GB of RAM out of my 7.7GB), but still fails to install with error code 0x80240034 . I have attempted to install it seven times so far when leaving the computer alone with no programs running, but the update still does not install.


This problem isn't happening with any other updates that were lined up.


The computer is unusable when installing it as 96% of my available RAM is used, which causes memory access errors when trying to open other programs. The RAM usage starts off small as normal, but increases by about 5-7MB per second.


I am only able to use the computer after manually stopping the Windows Update service through Task Manager, which frees up all of the RAM that was taken.


What I have tried:

• Windows Update troubleshooter. It either detects no issues, or closes with an "Unexpected error" when all of my RAM is used up.
• Restart, by clicking the 'Restart'. This means 'Fast startup' is not the problem.
• Disk Cleanup, to clean the Windows Update cache.
• Manually clearing the Windows Update cache. The RAM issue now occurs when just downloading the updates.

Computer specs:

• Windows 10 Pro, version 1809
• 8GB installed RAM, 7.65GB usable.
• 64 bit processor and operating system.

This morning Window version 1903 tried 2x to update but failed; Error code 0x80240034 and 0xc80003f3. Any thoughts anyone? Thank you

I recommend you to upgrade to V1903 via ISO file.

Feature update to Windows 10 Version 1903 failed to install with error code - 0x80240034

Just tried to install the feature update to Windows 10 on my pc (Dell 2720) and it failed with an error code of -

0x80240034

How can I fix this and get the upgrade to install?
