Windows 10: Windows 10 Update 1903 will not install

I have tried every way I can to install the 1903 upgrade but it won't install.


Windows update originally reported an error 0xc1900101, if I remember correctly, when it tried to update my system automatically. The OS was originally Windows 8.1 but upgraded to 10 as soon as it became available.

Computer is a Shuttle XPC with i7 3820, 3.6Ghz cpu, 16Gb RAM 2Gb Nvidia GTX750Ti - it's just over four years old but exceeds all the specs for windows 10.


If I try to use windows update now and click on 'check for updates' it doesn't find the 1903 update - it did earlier but after numerous failed installs and using different 'fixes' it doesn't find the update at all, just does a search and says I'm up to date but at the same time says the version of windows I am using will soon not be supported.


If I use the windows 10 update assistant it fails during a reboor/restart after approximately 73% installed with a blue screen and 'page fault in nonpaged area' error, then reboots and undoes the installation, reverting back to where it started.


If I run the windows update troubleshooter, it tells me that there is a 'potential windows update error detected', but nothing seems to fix this, I have tried the fix: stopping the wuauserv/cryptsvc/bits/msiserver then renaming (and sometimes deleting) the Softwaredistribution and catroot2 folders then starting the services again and rebooting the pc but this does nothing to help. I have also tried running sfc scannow and the three DISM commands but no change, the sfc and dism commands all report that everything is ok. (but still get the 'potential windows update error detected' when running the update troubleshooter)


I have uninstalled Kaspersy anti virus and started with a clean boot, I have disconnected extra internal hard drives, the wireless card, dvd drive, and there are no USB devices other than the keyboard and mouse attached.


All drivers are updated as well, bios is the latest also. Using a wired network to download, not wireless.


I have trawled the net for answers but none of the fixes that I found, mentioned above, help me with the install, and I don't really want to do a clean install from a USB stick or ISO image because I will lose several programs.


I have a core2 duo laptop, another (Celeron cpu) Shuttle and an HP thin client (yes!) all running Windows 10 that have all upgraded successfully to version 1903 - Has anyone any ideas as to why my main machine won't update please?

It's good that you're not experiencing any issues. Unfortunately many folks are, a quick Google search will show the same info im offering the OP.

It's basically what I mentioned above, small issues here and there ,but nothing to end your day.. for the most part.

I know it's anecdotal, but for my experience 95% of the time it's perfectly fine. The issues I've run into wouldn't be enough for me to roll back , but they would be enough (had I not installed it yet) ,to avoid it for another couple weeks which is why I'm suggesting it to the OP

windows xp installation and dual core am

could someone please list the steps they follow to install windows with a dual core processor and windows xp service pack to. I'm reletively new to amd dual core and i feel i'm missing a step. All help will be appreciated. thanx

 

Windows Updates failed to instal

I just did step one and they have just all installed.... thank you so much.... it was quite frustrating having that update window pop up every 5 minutes and failing to instal every time
