Windows 10: Windows 10 Update 2004 Failed with 0x800700b7

Hi.

I've got this error while installing W10 2004 update, it's always failed and undoing changes on each restart.

I've tried almost of all the tips to fix but still error.

Like sfc /scannow, and then disable the antivirus, with safe mode.

How to fix this?

Windows 10 fails to update


When you finish testing the Avast suggestion, make sure that you restart your machine.

Then if the issue persists, please return to the trouble shooting list in post# 89

I think there are three steps that remain; the WU troubleshooter, reset WU components, and manual WU reset.

 

Windows Updates failed to instal

I just did step one and they have just all installed.... thank you so much.... it was quite frustrating having that update window pop up every 5 minutes and failing to instal every time

Windows 10 cannot upgrade 2004 and the cumulative update

I have Version 1909 (OS Build 18363.1016) or x64-based systems. What do you have?

--- That sounds to me like you did not have WU problems before attempting to install 2004.
--- If so, regardless of the BITS & whatever method was used to update to 2004, the source of the problems are because the PC isn’t ready for 2004 and/or a combination of 2004 issues as it is.
--- Maybe reverting to a previous restore point would help.
